Star Wars 9 Rise of Skywalker prequels CAMEO: JJ Abrams just shared a MAJOR tease

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker concludes not just the sequel trilogy, but the entire Skywalker saga. And now director JJ Abrams has teased a big prequels era cameo. Can you guess who may feature?

Speaking with SoraNews24, Abrams was asked who his favourite Star Wars character was, to which he said Han Solo.

The director then asked the interviewer the same question, to which they said Ahsoka.

Abrams replied: “Hmmm, Ahsoka, huh?

“Well, then you’ll probably want to watch closely during The Rise of Skywalker.”

What could that be other than a major tease that Ahsoka will feature in Episode IX?

But who is she? Well, she’s not featured in any of the live-action movies to date.

Ahsoka Tano is the Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, first introduced in the animated Clone Wars movie.

She then featured in the TV show, before returning in Star Wars Rebels in a limited capacity.

A Togruta female, she was discovered on her homeward of Shili by Jedi Master Plo Koon.

In Star Wars Rebels she fought her former master, now Darth Vader, in a lightsaber duel.

According to canon, she left Malachor after Return of the Jedi’s Battle of Endor, and then travelled to Lothal.

After that, her story is something of a mystery in the three decades between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Since she’s not a well-known character to casual Star Wars fans, our best bet is she will take part in a battle during The Rise of Skywalker – but somewhere in the background as an Easter Egg.

After all, Abrams said, “you’ll probably want to watch closely”, perhaps implying her cameo isn’t necessarily obvious.

Presumably, her former master Anakin, now a Force ghost, will also appear in The Rise of Skywalker.

After all, the saga is his and Palpatine’s story which began with Episode I; The Phantom Menace.

And with Palpatine returning in The Rise of Skywalker, it seems likely that Hayden Christensen has reprised his role for a cameo. But in what capacity would Anakin’s Force ghost feature?

Well, Anakin was prophecied to be the Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force.

Technically, he’s not done that yet (well, with the new canon anyway), so maybe his Force ghost will destroy Palpatine?

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
