Trevor McDonald stars in McVities advert
Sir Trevor McDonald will be on screens as a newsreader once more as he makes a cameo in a new McVitie advert.
Premiering on October 4, the advert features the 84-year-old famed for his five-decade-long career with ITV, returning to the nation’s TV screens.
The clever clip addresses how the biscuit brand is often copied and is titled There is Only One.
As an impersonator calls himself Trevor McDonald, the well-known journalist responded: “Actually, it’s Sir Trevor McDonald, and I’ll take it from here”.
In 2013, a Radio Times poll saw Trevor crowned Britain’s best-loved TV news figure.

He received a knighthood in 1999 and has landed more awards than any other news broadcaster in Britain.
Regularly topping the polls as the most authoritative and trustworthy news presenter, he has received Honorary Degrees from eight Universities.
The news icon stated: “Armed with a freshly-pressed suit, a cup of tea and a generous supply of Chocolate Digestives, stepping behind the news desk again after fifteen years in many ways felt like coming home.
“I think the people of Britain are going to love the humour of this new ad – and of course the soundtrack.

Fans will love seeing the broadcasting legend back behind the news desk and making an acting debut.
While the beloved journalist was the face of ITV News at 10 for decades, he has had his own struggled behind-the-scenes.
Recently, Trevor opened up about his struggle with binge drinking.
Speaking about his experiences with binge drinking the veteran presenter said last year: “The problem with that is that it’s never just a glass.
“I get home at 11pm and then look at my watch and it’s approaching midnight and I’m on my fourth glass”.
McDonald said the problem was exacerbated by the drinking culture at the time when high alcohol consumption was not considered a warning sign.
He reflected: “I discovered how quickly your stocks dwindle when you’re home in the evenings.”
