Shep Rose From 'Southern Charm' Returns to Twitter

Shep Rose from Southern Charm dipped his toe “tentatively” back into the Twitter moshpit.

After a self-imposed hiatus, the bachelor decided to return. “Nobody asked. So I decided to tentatively return to this platform. I must say it did give me a bunch of laughs,” he tweeted. While a number of followers were pleased to see that he returned some still eye-rolled his post.

But Rose likely learned a few hard lessons when he put his account in time-out. He vanished from Twitter after making snarky remarks after fans called him out for mocking (and filming) a homeless woman during a trip to New York City.

While the video enraged fans, his reaction made it worse

Rose posted a video of an interaction he had with a homeless woman in New York. He appeared to mock her as she gathered cans. “Look at me, nice cans! I mean, the cans you have!” he snarked in a deleted clip, according to People. The woman shoots back, covering her face, “No! No!” Adding insult to injury Rose added this over the video, “I love double entendres. Yes she was camera shy. But she laughed.”

When fans called him out for his insensitive behavior, he jabbed at commenters, further angering fans. “Omg. I offended you! Ok. Here’s the plan, sensitivity training 5 times a week,” Rose responded when a fan posted the video to Twitter. “Then intensive therapy (hot yoga?) followed by a public flogging in the town square. Then I move to Siberia and live in an igloo for 4 months. At this point. I think I’ll be cleansed of your disapproval.”

As calls for Rose to be fired from Bravo grew louder, he tried another approach. “I know some people were upset about the video from Sunday night,” he tweeted. “It was a stupid joke and bad idea all around. Also a bit out of context. I spent a few minutes with her talking and telling jokes. She laughed a little. But Yeah, wasn’t cool or funny. Mea culpa.”

A non-apology wasn’t an apology

Even though Rose admitted he made a bad decision, fans wanted to hear that he was sorry. And his tweet didn’t exactly reflect that. The barrage of angry tweets and comments kept coming his way until finally, he apologized. “I feel absolutely sick about all that’s transpired this week,” he tweeted for the last time on August 8. “I’ve compounded stupidity upon stupidity. Just know that I never intended to hurt anyone. And i do enjoy sharing my adventures and thoughts with you. But i blew it. Anyway, gonna take a little break. And look inward.”

His apology may have come a little too late as a number of fans had written him off. Although he maintained his (and Little Craig’s) Instagram accounts, he went dark on Twitter. During the Twitter hiatus, Rose focused on posting images with friends and family. Plus, he added plenty of Little Craig puppy pictures too.

Now that he has returned, fans still hope to see his acerbic wit in action, especially with regard to his political observations. Fans also hope to see a more respectful Rose than the person who lashed out in August. One fan warned, “Behave Charmer.”
