A source close to the 29-year-old told us: "Shane has grown up in the public eye and has always been heavily associated with his parents and younger brother Jake.

"Seeing him out doing his own thing on Celebs Go Dating will be amazing and will finally give the public an insight to what he’s really like.

"Shane’s very warm and likeable, as well as incredibly funny. Fans will definitely love him and he’d be a great addition to the cast.

"There’s been a few stars in the past who’ve pretended to be single, simply to get on the show and for the pay cheque. They then get caught out on secret dates. At least with Shane, we know he’s genuinely single and looking for love."

Shane will join the line-up of stars who have already been announced for the show; Love Island’s Olivia Attwood and Eyal Booker, TOWIE’s Chloe Sims and Vas J Morgan, Made In Chelsea’s Alik Alfus, Mutya Buena from the Sugababes and Sam Craske of dance group Diversity.

It comes after he accused mum Coleen of being "creepy" when it comes to his girlfriends.

The star, whose mum once offered to get him a prostitute, says Loose Women’s Coleen once told one of his ex-girlfriends "he will never be truly yours".

He said: "My mum once pulled me away from kissing my girlfriend at the time so she could hug me.

"She used to say to my girlfriends, ‘He will never be fully yours’. It needs to stop. It’s creepy."

But Coleen defended her behaviour saying her ex-husband and his dad’s mother did it to her when they started dating.

She explained: "My ex mother-in law did that to me when I was first going with Shane. When he walked out of the room she said, ‘He’ll never be yours and he will be home in six weeks’.

"I just replied, ‘Probably with my cooking he will be home in four’."
