Eventually, Alex accepts Dawn and Billy's adoption proposal.

But in later scenes, it's revealed he has a plan on his mind as he ominously appears from out of the dark and pulls up outside Woodbine.

3. Dawn gets arrested

Dawn agrees to secretly meet Alex outside and realises she was right all along.

Alex will not consent to Lucas' adoption unless she deals drugs for him in order to help him pay off his many debts.

Blackmailed, Dawn keeps everything to herself and struggles to share Harriet and Billy's excitement over the adoption.

The pressure piles up and Dawn takes things to another level by stealing from Home Farm.

Dawn feels the walls are closing in on her and makes a final call to Alex before accompanying him to meet his drug dealer.

But as the meeting ends, the trio are interrupted and cornered by police cars.

Dawn is being hauled away into the back of one of them… indicating she could be losing her son Lucas as legal trouble may lie ahead.

4. Kerry confronts Noah

As Dawn is involved in another dramatic storyline, Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) takes a stand, disgusted by vile Noah Dingle's (Jack Downham) playboy behaviour.

In a bid to make Chloe Harris jealous after she betrayed him with Jacob Gallagher, Noah gets closer to an over-enamoured Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).

Noah enlists Samson's (Sam Hall) help to keep Cathy busy whilst he does all he can to attract Chloe's attention.

The truth comes out and Amelia is heartbroken.

The teenager reluctantly tells her concerned family about the encounter but is embarrassed when Kerry intervenes and confronts Noah.

How will the latter react?

5. Rhona bonds with Mary

Far from pleased to see her mother Mary (Louise Jameson), especially after she interrupted an intimate moment with Marlon, Rhona (Zoe Henry) kicks herself when she realises that she unwillingly convinced her to stay longer in the Dales.

Meanwhile, after a conversation with the newcomer, Marlon is determined to propose to Rhona soon.

The chef gets his proposal ready with a grand gesture for his other half and decides to prepare a surprise party at Smithy.

Despite their strained relationship, Rhona and Mary have a rare moment of happiness, bonding over a shared secret.

But what could it be?

6. Manpreet vanishes

As Meena Jutla's plea hearing approaches, some characters like vicar Charles Anderson and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) are more desperate than ever to get a confession out of her.

This week, the GP puts on a brave face as she nervously awaits for the hearing.

Charles (Kevin Mathurin) and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) won't be able to discuss the criminal's confession on the stand, which only troubles her more.

Manpreet then finds out she won't get the same treatment as she is to testify against her sister.

The task proves to be overwhelming for her and soon, she suffers a panic attack caused by all the pressure.

In sheer distress, Manpreet jumps into her car and sets off before abandoning her phone and her vehicle.

She disappears into the night as actress Rebecca Sarker has recently confirmed her exit from the ITV soap.

7. Mackenzie leaves the village

Coming up, Charity almost shares a kiss with her former fiancée Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).

Downplaying the moment, Vanessa gives Mackenzie some advice and he prepares to win Charity back.

Mackenzie plans to move in with Charity – much to her horror.

Blindsided, Charity is also struggling to keep Vanessa out of her thoughts.

Torn between Vanessa and Mackenzie, Charity fails to commit to living with the latter and he threatens to move back to Scotland.
