Sean's son Dylan returns to Coronation Street

Sean and Dylan in Coronation Street

Coronation Street has confirmed the return of Sean Tully’s (Antony Cotton) son Dylan Wilson.

Young actor Liam McCheyne announced his comeback on social media, with an Instagram picture of Corrie scripts.

He enthused: ‘Can’t wait to get back to work on the 17th super excited, been a long time coming

‘Hopefully many memories and fun to come!’

Contacted by Metro.co.uk, Coronation Street confirmed that the character will be back on screen this summer.

Dylan Wilson is the son of Violet Wilson and Sean Tully. In spring 2007, Sean agreed to be a donor for Violet Wilson, so she could have a baby.

Violet left the Street with Dylan and her partner Jamie Baldwin – and Sean’s role in Dylan’s life has been sporadic at best.

Most recently, viewers saw Dylan stay with Sean in 2020. Sean tried to bond with him, but Dylan felt impacted by the differences between them as homophobic bullies teased him over his dad’s sexuality.

The storyline around Dylan’s return has yet to be confirmed but it comes in the wake of other announced returns.

Metro.co.uk exclusively confirmed the comeback of Audrey’s son Stephen, who is returning to film this spring for a big storyline with the Platt family.

And Toyah’s close friend Spider is also heading back 25 years after his first appearance.

Speaking back in 2020 about Dylan and Sean’s relationship, Antony told Metro.co.uk: ‘This is a very different dynamic for Sean. I’m hoping we’re going to become a little… well, we already are a partnership because the characters are father and son, but I hope we’re going to be a little duo!’

Dylan’s stay was somewhat fleeting then – but perhaps the duo dream can be properly fulfilled this time.
