After six seasons, Schitt’s Creek has come to an end. Though they knew it was coming, fans have been utterly distraught and emotional at the thought of the show coming to a close. The cast of the acclaimed show has also expressed their sadness. Dan Levy took to Twitter yesterday to share one of the most touching goodbye notes in finale history.
What did Dan Levy say?
Dan, who starred as David Rose on the show, co-created Shitt’s Creek with his father, Eugene Levy. So, the show coming to a close hit especially hard for him.
“This show has been the love of my life for the past seven years,” he wrote in a note posted to Twitter. “Getting to tell these stories, build these characters, and watch them grow has been a privilege for which I will always be grateful.”
“Working with this brilliant cast and crew and basking in the glow of their extraordinary talent for six amazing seasons are what I’m going to miss the most,” he continued. “We built a family on those sets and it’s reassuring to know that time won’t ever change that. I love you guys more than you will ever know.”
He was also extremely appreciative to the viewers who allowed the offbeat Canadian show to last for so long.
“As for our viewers, getting to share this show with you, getting to watch you champion it, tell your friends about it, herald its messages of love and acceptance with such empathy and passion… that is something I will never forget,” he said. “The stories you have shared with me over the years have made me laugh and cry and feel empowered to keep making things that mean something.”
“You’ve taught me that television has the power to not only bring people together in profound and inspiring ways but also the power to change conversations and consequently change lives. I know that you all have certainly changed mine. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to watch our show. I am forever grateful for this time we had together. Here’s to many more stories and many more memories, whatever they may be.”
Eugene also penned a goodbye note on Twitter.
“A stirring SERIES-ENDING thank you to our BRILLIANT cast & crew, @CBC , @PopTV ,@ITV and @netflix. But our biggest, STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART thank you goes to our beloved FANS! Couldn’t have done it without you,” he tweeted.
Fan reactions to the finale
Obviously, fans were sad to see the show come to an end but were pleased with how the storylines finished.
“#SchittsCreek might have just pulled off the perfect series finale,” one person tweeted.
“David found genuine love,” another person wrote. “Alexis found self independence. Moira found work based on merit. Johnny found acceptance based on connection.”
“Perhaps I just needed to cry anyway but the series finale & wonderful wrap up really hit me hard. @SchittsCreek brought us together in a time when so much is uncertain. Thank you dearest @danjlevy you beautiful brilliant human being,” another fan said.
