Riverdale’s fourth season has been teasing the upcoming “death” of Jughead Jones (played by Cole Sprouse) since season three. While it is as of yet unclear whether Jughead really is going to die, or indeed who would do it. But viewers may have gotten a little closer to the truth this week.
The final scenes of this week’s episode saw a surprising return of Chic (Hart Denton), who was locked up for his crimes in season three.
However the context of his arrival was overwhelming, as it was Charles Smith (Wyatt Nash) who went to visit the criminal.
During their conversation it was heavily hinted the pair were in a relationship, leaving Charles’ allegiances to his sister, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) in disarray.
The pair also discussed the horrific murder of the Shady Man – which Betty eventually helped Chic cover up back in season two.

But, considering Charles is an FBI agent, could he have an even more devious plan up his sleeve?
Working with Betty is beneficial for Charles, as she is always close to Jughead – who fans know will be killed off in the upcoming episodes.
Could Chic and Charles devise a plan to kill Jughead in an attempt to pin his murder – and the murder of the Shady Man – on Betty?
If so, this would exonerate Chic for the murder, and would allow the lovers to reunite.
So far, viewers have only seen Jughead’s body being discovered and talked about, while Betty, Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), and Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendez) covered up the death.
But if Jughead was truly killed by his three friends, how would this eventually link back to Chic and Charles?
Meanwhile, viewers were a little stunned by the latest progression in Cheryl Blossom’s (Madelaine Petsch) outrageous story.
Viewers will remember Cheryl has felt plagued by a supposedly haunted doll, which seems to be following her around.

This week, she attempted to drown the doll in an attempt to end the haunting.
Viewers found this entire story ridiculous, and began hitting out on Twitter about it.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Cheryl just drowned a doll because she thinks it’s haunting her family.
“All while her dead brother who she had preserved or stuffed or something is sitting there still with a bullet hole in his forehead… what has this show even become #Riverdale.”

Another said: “This storyline with Cheryl and that doll are ridiculous #riverdale.”
A third chimed in to add: “The f**k is this storyline with Cheryl and the doll smh! #Riverdale.”
But could the doll be getting moved around by Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan) in an attempt to teach Cheryl a lesson?
