Ricky Whittle’s bizarre new accent baffles This Morning viewers

Ricky Whittle left viewers swooning during his appearance on This Morning – but also sparked confusion over his accent.

The British actor first stepped into the spotlight on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, but has since become incredibly successful across the pond, scooping major roles in several huge TV series.

After starring in CW’s The 100 he is now appearing as Shadow Moon in fantasy TV series American Gods, which is based on Neil Gaiman’s hit novel by the same name.

He appeared on This Morning today to promote the second series of the show.

However even Phil noticed his American twang and poked fun at him.

"You are very ‘LA’ now," Phil pointed out.

"Stop it!" he exclaimed. "I now say side walk."

He joked that Americans didn’t get his sense of humour, quipping: "I’m much funnier here."
