Celebrity Juice stars Holly Willoughby and Keith Lemon have revealed why Paddy McGuinness was chosen to replace Fearne Cotton on the show.
Fearne announced in December that she was stepping down from her role as a captain on the show after 10 years.
Rumours circulated over who would be replacing her, which also features Gino D’Acampo as a regular guest, with Emily Atack one of the names thrown into the mix.
On Wednesday, Fleur East confirmed on This Morning that it would be Paddy taking on the role, with host Holly sharing her thoughts.
Revealing why the decision was made, she said it was a “no brainer” as she confirmed she was happy for Paddy to join the team.
She said: “Paddy is always on show anyway so he kind of already feels like part of the family, it was a no brainier.”
Holly initially worried about being the only girl on the show after Fearne’s departure, but said Paddy was “very different” to host Keith.
Keith then appeared on the show via video link to confirm the news, and share his own reaction.
He said: “He’s not replacing Fearne, he’s just taking the baton.”
Keith added of what fans could expect: “He’s gonna use language which we’re not able to understand.”
The comedian then joked that Holly would have someone to challenge her in the drinking stakes, often exaggerating her alcohol consumption on the ITV2 panel show.
Holly laughed the remarks off, before saying: “So not a lot…” when told that she had some competition in Paddy.
This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am on ITV.
