Red Dwarf actor and Steps singer are latest stars confirmed for Strictly

Steps singer Faye Tozer and Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules have become the second and third celebrities confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing .

The pair were announced as the latest celebs taking part in the 16th series of the BBC dancing show on The One Show this evening.

So far, they join Katie Piper in the confirmed line-up .

Speaking ahead of his appearance on the show, Danny said: "Having spent the last few months on two wheels motorcycling around South America in pink leathers, I’m absolutely delighted to be getting back on two feet and into something more comfortable like glittery spandex."

Danny, 57, is best known for playing Cat in sci-fi comedy series Red Dwarf, however has starred in a number of other BBC series including Death In Paradise and CBBC’s M.I. High.

Meanwhile Faye, 42, first stepped into the spotlight through iconic pop group Steps from 1997 until 2001.

Speaking on The One Show today, she admitted that she was glad that the news was finally out: "I’ve lied to so many people!"

"I am all about the costumes," Faye said when asked what she was looking forward to most. "I mean, the huge hair, the make-up, the themed nights…"

Alex Jones asked how she would react to people hitting out for her already having dance experience, she replied: "I think you will find that most of us do. I don’t have any ballroom experience so I’m really excited to get my teeth into that and dance around with a partner and be whisked around the floor."

Since the band disbanded, Faye stuck to the theatre circuit and appeared in a number of independent films. Unlike some of her fellow bandmates like Claire Richards and Ian ‘H’ Watkins, she hasn’t appeared in much reality TV. However her wedding to partner Michael Smith was televised on an episode of Celebrity Four Weddings.

This comes shortly after TV presenter and philanthropist Katie Piper was announced as the first celeb taking part today.

Other stars believed to be taking part include Kate Silverton, Lee Ryan and YouTuber Joe Sugg, alongside rumoured contestants Ashley Roberts, Dr Ranj Singh and Tom Daley.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast, Katie, 34, said: "Thank you so much, it’s been so hard to keep it secret!"

She said it’s been difficult not to tell friends, even when they’ve invited her to events in October and November.
