More sneak peeks of the upcoming “Joker” movie have surfaced in the form of set photos and video, in addition to the official ones shared by director Todd Phillips. The cast and crew of the Warner Bros.-DC movie were spotted hard at work on Saturday, September 22 at the Bronx Subway Station in New York City.

Joaquin Phoenix was sporting full Joker makeup during the filming. Wearing his character’s signature burgundy suit and orange vest complete with his green hair, the actor was seen filming a riot scene. He was getting out of a train wearing a clown mask, while outside, other passengers were hitting a helpless man in a suit.

Prior to the filming of the riot scene, Phoenix was spotted on the set with Zazie Beetz, who plays a character named Sophie Dumond in the movie. Rocking Arthur Fleck’s street outfit, he was chasing Beetz’s character during the filming on Saturday in New York City.

Director Todd Phillips later shared the official picture of Beetz in character. She covers up in a warm sweater while she doesn’t look at the camera with her wandering eyes.

Meanwhile, the first look at Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne a.k.a. Bruce Wayne’s father has emerged in the form of a fake poster for his campaign in the run for mayor. His slogan, “Moving Gotham Forward,” is written below his face.

An origin story of the signature villain of Batman, “Joker” is described as a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale of a man disregarded by society who becomes the ultimate supervillain. The film depicts the titular character as a failed stand-up comedian who goes insane and becomes a murdering psychopath.

Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Robert De Niro, Shea Whigham, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais also star in the movie, which is written and directed by Todd Phillips. “The Hangover” trilogy director is also serving as producer along with Martin Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. The DC-Warner Bros. movie is scheduled for an October 4, 2019 release in the United States.
