Piers Morgan has revealed the behind-the-scenes of the moment Mel B admitted to hooking up with Geri Horner at the height of Spice Girls fame.
She was appearing on an upcoming episode of his series Life Stories, when the Good Morning Britain presenter probed the singer on rumours she was more than mates with Geri at one stage.
While Mel tried to swerve the question, looking to bandmate Mel C in the audience for help, Piers pushed on.
‘She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband. But it’s a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it,’ 43-year-old Mel continued.
It emerged she also said: ‘We were best friends. It just happened. Have you ever done that? Yeah and I’ve said it now. All done.’
Now Piers has admitted ‘it’s all kicking off’ as he added today: ‘Geri is now briefing the “it’s never happened”. She’s slightly panicking about what Mr Geri [husband Christian Horner] thinks.’
Speaking with his co-host Susanna Reid, she noted to Piers he ‘just let the awkwardness sit.’
‘It goes on a lot longer, I had fun with it,’ he said, adding he urged Mel to be, like the title of her book, ‘brutally honest’.
‘Are you going to be honest or not? Brutally honest, or are you going to tell me porkies?’ he continued.
‘It certainly adds a little spice about the new tour which will start around the time the episode is out.’
Good Morning Britain returns 6am on ITV.
