Phillip Schofield trips off stage during This Morning live – and Holly Willoughby can't stop giggling

PHILLIP Schofield was left red-faced after watching a clip of himself tripping over in front of the entire This Morning Live audience on today's show.

The footage left co-host Holly Willoughby giggling before admitting she too completely missed the stage step.

Holly joked Phil's fall was like "something from the Matrix" as the host attempted to save himself from the awkward trip.

The trip happened as Phil enthusiastically waved the audience goodbye.

Unaware in the moment that her co-host was falling, Holly – who was sporting a pair of heels – then stumbled down the same step.

Phil revealed the embarrassing fall at the start of the show – admitting he'd scoured the internet for hours trying to check if it had been caught on camera.

Fortunately – so he thought – he was unable to find any evidence of the moment – until he made the confession to This Morning viewers.

One viewer revealed they did capture the fall and quickly sent in the video – much to Holly's delight.

Holly and Phil joined the rest of the This Morning team to host the event live in Birmingham on Thursday and Friday.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford then took over the reins at the weekend.

Sharing a picture from the event on Instagram on Saturday, Holly wrote: "Book signing backstage at #tmlive #trulyhappybaby…

"So lovely meeting so many of you who have read and been helped by the book… it’s one of the things I’m most proud of…

"My sister @ladywilloughby and I wrote it together a while back now and it’s wonderful to think how many mums and dads have read this book over the years… ?"
