Peter Barlow makes devastating confession ahead of Coronation Street exit | The Sun

STEPHEN Reid's death was a turning point for Weatherfield favourite Peter Barlow.

In scenes due to air, the Coronation Street cabbie played by Chris Gascoyne alarms his nearest and dearest with a devastating confession.

ITV viewers are gearing up for Peter's emotional exit after seeing him on their screens for more than two decades.

In recent weeks, Peter has been struggling to cope with his involvement in Stephen Reid's death as he mowed the serial killer down with his car in an attempt to save Jenny Connor.

This is despite authorities clearing him and deeming he had acted to defend the former pub landlady.

Coming up, Peter's crisis of conscience continues after he reads a letter from the hospital and surreptitiously shoves it in his pocket.

Later on, when Peter admits to his pal Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) that he can’t stop obsessing over Stephen’s death, Tim reckons he needs a distraction and has an idea.

In the hot tub at No.4, Tim advises Peter to forget thoughts of Stephen and focus on the good things in his life.

Sadly, Peter is clearly in too deep as he reckons it’s easier said than done.

Peter then drops another bombshell on his friend as he confides in Tim that he’s worried his relationship with his wife Carla Connor (Alison King) has run its course as these days she’s totally preoccupied with the Underworld factory.
