Paedophile Maya Stepney arrested in shocking showdown in Emmerdale

It’s time for Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) to finally, finally get her well-deserved comeuppance in Emmerdale.

It’s been a gritty few months as viewers have seen the pervert teacher grooming underage Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), with their relationship turning sexual the moment he turned 16. Months ago we were promised ‘the right outcome’ for the paedophile, and Emmerdale bosses have come good on that promise.

After months of secrecy and near misses, they were discovered by Liv, who went on to use the information to blackmail Maya into giving her money to pay for Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) surrogacy.

And then the Big Night Out saw the beginning of the end, when Priya (Fiona Wade) spotted Maya locking lips with Jacob and it all fell into place. After a scuffle with the girls where Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) came to believe she’d accidentally murdered her, Maya took the teen and went on the run, but now as she plans to fully flee the area to avoid prison time. Using the teenager to plot her escape, her luck runs out.

It’s been an uncomfortable watch, with viewers screaming at their TV screens for David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) to realise what’s been happening to his son, but now he knows, and the world will come crashing down on the sick abuser.

David manages to convince an uncomfortable Ryan Stocks (James Moore) into installing spyware on Jacob’s computer so that he can monitor if he tries to communicate with the fugitive Maya.

Jacob heads to Leyla’s (Roxy Shahidi) to revise, but is secretly on the hunt for Maya’s passport and money. He sends Maya a reassuring message that he has it all in hand, unaware he’s being monitored.

Maya waits the next day at the cricket pavilion for Jacob to show up, but she’s left stunned when she’s confronted by David instead.

She begs him to let her run on the promise she’ll keep away from Jacob for good, but David is not about to let her go that easily. The argument becomes heated, and Maya rushes to leave, but she’s stopped in her tracks when she sees police cars arriving.

Jacob is horrified to watch as she’s shoved into the back of a police car while David wonders if he’s made the right decision.

Maya’s reign of abuse is over. But can Jacob ever forgive his dad for what he’s done?
