Outlander viewers had a tough time last year, as season four of the show was a tough watch. After Brianna Fraser’s (played by Sophie Skelton) harrowing rape at the hands of Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) things only got worse for the youngster. Thankfully, that is all behind her going into season five, and now she is working on getting through the pain of these events.
In a new setting, living alongside her parents in Fraser’s Ridge, Brianna has an enormous support network behind her.
Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Helghan) begin season five by welcoming Brianna’s partner Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) into their family by hosting a wedding for them.
The duo publicly announce their love, and say some vows to cement their marriage in their new time.
However, in a recent interview with TV Insider, Brianna actor Sophie revealed it wasn’t as easy as it looks.

This isn’t the main focus of the character’s place in the show, however, as Sophie went on to explain Brianna is still struggling with last season’s events.
She continued: “She’s trying to get through that trauma.
“[And] be there for her baby and not let her past define her.”
Thankfully, Roger’s commitment cements his dedication to her, and to their child – no matter who the father is.
Will the running theme of Brianna’s horrific experiences continue throughout the fifth season?
Meanwhile, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts spoke out about the upcoming scenes including Claire and Jamie.
