One Direction will NEVER get back together, announces Harry Styles’ best pal Nick Grimshaw on his last ever Radio 1 show

The TV presenter, 33, seemed to break the hearts of 1D fans everywhere when he dismissed the band's plans to reunite in the future after going on hiatus.

Speaking on his action-packed final show – which saw the host relive some of his most memorable radio moments – he said producer Fiona Hanlon: "When we started this show [One Direction] were all together as a five piece.

"Do you think they'll ever get back together?"

Answering his own question, Nick then enthused: "No, not a chance. It's not happening is it?"

Of course, it wasn't long before 1D fans took to Twitter to question the announcement, with some slamming the presenter for acting like "1D's PR chief".

One wrote: "So @grimmers just said on his last breakfast show that one direction getting back together was 'never going to happen'. Thank you for literally ruining my life."

Another responded: "What the hell is wrong with him? Why suddenly is he speaking like he is the 1D's pr chief?"

"Fiona and Nick saying it how it is about 'not a chance' 1D will get back together… WAHHHH," a third moaned.

"Grimmy just said he didn't think 1D would get back together again. Thanks for putting that out there pal," a further slammed.

Despite Nick's comment, One Direction – who went on indefinite hiatus in 2016 – have always said they would reunite at some point in the future.

The group are currently enjoying successful solo careers, though earlier this summer Liam Payne said the band have discussed future tour plans.

He told The Daily Star: "It's amazing that we're doing our own thing and then, hopefully one day soon, we get back together and have another great time of it, who knows?"
