On My Block season three has thankfully been confirmed by Netflix. The renewal comes a month after the second series of On My Block dropped at the end of March 2019. On My Block has received huge praise for its diverse cast and daring storylines which focus around a group of teenagers in a Los Angeles neighbourhood, tackling issues of gang violence, love, race and poverty. The first two seasons of On My Block are streaming on Netflix right now.
When is On My Block season 3 out?
Netflix has confirmed there will be another series of On My Block.
The news was announced via On My Block’s Twitter account, almost a month after the second season dropped on Netflix.
The tweet read: “Fam, our mentions will never be the same #OnMyBlockS3 is officially on the way!” alongside a video montage of fan tweets about the show.
The On My Block writer’s twitter account also wrote: “Thank you to all the fans that made it possible. We can’t wait to give you a season three. Let’s do it again! #OnMyBlock”
Diego Tinoco who plays Cesar in the show also confirmed the news, writing: “On My Block Season 3 coming soon.”
Unfortunately, Netflix has not yet confirmed a release date for On My Block season three.
The good news is, filming for the new season will take place this year in Los Angeles.
The previous two seasons have dropped on Netflix over the past two years in March, so it is likely season three will follow the same release pattern.
The new series is also likely to contain 10 episodes, just like the previous two seasons.
Speaking exclusively to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Lauren Lungerich said: “The entire On My Block team is beyond thrilled and grateful to continue telling this uniquely fun and important story with the third season.
“Four years ago, I had an idea to make a show for teenagers who didn’t see themselves represented on TV and to do it right and today we’ve all watched a generation of kids passionately express how this show makes them feel seen and heard.
“As filmmakers, we connect people vicariously, so it’s important to get that work right; to ensure it’s being told as authentically as possible, which means surrounding yourself with people — in front of and behind the camera — like the people in your narrative. Representation and inclusion makes our lives richer and the art better.
“At every turn. Because we can’t just ask each other to the party — we have to ask each other to dance.”

What will happen in On My Block season 3?
On My Block season three will pick up from the intense cliffhanger of season two.
In the final seconds of the season two finale, Jamal (played by Brett Gray), Cesar (Diego Tinoco), Ruby (Jason Genao) and Monse (Sierra Capri) were kidnapped by an unknown gang.
The shocking twist came moments after Monse said goodbye to her old friends after telling them she was moving to Brentwood where her mother lives to attend an all-girls private school.
As she was walking along the pavement in the background viewers were able to see Jamal, Cesar and Ruby being bundled into a black car against there will.
Just as it looked like Monse was safe, a black hood was pulled over her face and she too was forced into the car.
Who was behind the kidnapping? Was it The Prophets, the Police or The Santos?
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly after the season two Netflix premiere, Lungerich explained: “Basically what I can tell you is that it’s [the ending] setting us up for our season three drive.”
She added: “We knew we needed a good cliffhanger because that is what our show is; it’s surprising and we need to keep the audience wanting to have that same fervour to come back and watch season three, which I think we’ve achieved.”
Fans will have to wait until next year to find out who exactly was behind the kidnapping and why.
