The 46-year-old Hot Fuzz actor and co-star Jack Lowden were speaking about their different workout regimes on Virgin Radio's Chris Evans Breakfast Show this morning.
Jack told Chris: "I had five meals a day and a trainer twice a day doing crossfit.
"It's all military rope-climbing and a lot of crying and screaming. We did that and I ate a lot of chicken and sushi."
Chris then asked: "Similar for you Nick, similar regime?"
The actor joked: "Yeah, I ate a wedding cake a day."
He added: "We trained for two weeks and they worked out a few amazing routines for us in terms of the fights."
Referring to Jack, he added: "I was trying to catch him and slam him down but I had to be careful because I potentially had the next James Bond in my hands."
Fighting With My Family tells the story of the Knights, who make a living wrestling together in tiny venues.
But when son and daughter Zak and Paige get the chance to try out for the WWE, the family's lives gets turned upside down.
Nick and Jack star in the film, alongside Hollywood heavyweights Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Vince Vaughn and Lena Headey.
The film's premiere was held last night at the BFI in London.
