New Narcos: Mexico trailer reveals what the relaunched Netflix series will look like in its new setting

Netflix has given us a first look at its relaunched Narcos series as Diego Luna and Michael Peña take over the show for its fourth season.

While we’ve already been given a teaser trailer and two first-look images, Netflix has now dropped a new 40-second preview clip to give audiences a taste of the new-look Narcos: Mexico as well as confirming when all the new episodes will drop on the streaming service.

So, if you can’t wait to binge-watch the season when it premieres on November 16, then be sure to feast your eyes on this:

Narcos: Mexico moves the action from Colombia to Mexico as it goes back to explore the origins of the modern drug war with the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s.

At a time when the Mexican trafficking world was loose, disorganised and dominated by independent growers and dealers, Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm to unify traffickers and build an empire.

With their power came increasing scrutiny, forcing DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) to uproot his family from California to Mexico in an increasingly dangerous mission to bring down Gallardo and his allies.

“As Kiki garners intelligence on Félix and becomes more entangled in his mission, a tragic chain of events unfold, affecting the drug trade and the war against it for years to come,” the synopsis continued.

Narcos: Mexico marks the first series of the Netflix hit that original star Pedro Pascal won’t be starring in.

Pascal previously said that a fourth season of Netflix series Narcos won’t happen until there are guarantees that it can be made “safe” after a location scout named Carlos Muñoz Portal, employed by the show, was shot dead while working in Mexico.

“We can’t do it if it’s not safe,” he said. “We’re talking about lives. If they want to do it, then they’ll figure it out in a safe way.”

But while Pascal may not be a part of the Narcos relaunch, with showrunner Eric Newman previously playing down the possibility of a cameo in the new season, he’ll be kept busy with his top-secret role in the Wonder Woman sequel instead.

Narcos: Mexico launches on Netflix on November 16.
