New leash of life for K9 may bring some comfort to bereft Doctor Who fans

Doctor Who fans are reeling that favourite characters will not be in the new BBC series.

There will be no Daleks, Cybermen or Weeping Angels.

But it’s not all ruff justice – the Doctor’s pet pooch K9 is set to star in a new feature film.

Excitement mounted when the robotic hound was spotted on set alongside new Doctor Jodie Whittaker back in February – but, sadly, the model was a fan’s replica.

New Doctor Who boss Chris Chibnall has stated the latest series would be a “recruiting year” for new characters, confirming the familiar snout will not be appearing.

However, K9’s makers, Bob Baker and Paul Tams, say they are launching K9 into his own Whoniverse ahead of a film.

“We are excited to at last tell you that there is a major project … to bring K9 back as the standalone hero that he deserves to be.”
