New ‘Avatar 2’ Photo Unveils Jake and Neytiri’s Human Son

In the upcoming sequel of James Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi blockbuster, Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) have their own family, which includes an adopted human son.

AceShowbiz -As the world of “Avatar” is expanding in the forthcoming sequel, there is more room for new characters. To be introduced in “Avatar 2” is a human character named Miles Socorro a.k.a. Spider, who is a son of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana).

A new image of the long-awaited sequel gives first look at this new character, played by Jack Champion. Released in the latest issue of Empire magazine, the photo features the human child partially submerging in the water, seemingly on the prowl.

In the upcoming movie, Jake and Neytire have their own family, including Na’vi kids Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss). As for Spider, he was born at the military base on Pandora. He was too small to return to Earth, so he’s adopted by Jake and Neytiri and has been raised in the bioluminescent jungle.

“Jake took him in but Neytiri always saw him as one of the people who destroyed her home and killed her father,” producer Jon Landau tells the magazine of Spider. “So you have all these dynamics playing out.”

“If you look at what Jim does in his movies, he writes in universal themes that are bigger than the genre of any one movie,” Landau explains the theme of the sequel. “This time around, we’re taking Jake and Neytiri and building the most universal theme of all around them. Which is family.”

He continues dishing, “Jake comes from the human world, Neytiri from the Na’vi world. So, they’re like a modern mixed-race couple, raising kids who perhaps feel they don’t belong to one world or another.”

“Avatar 2” is slated for a December 16, 2022 release in the United States. Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez return for the sequel, while Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis and Edie Falco are among new additions to the cast.
