NCIS New Orleans season 6: Will there be another series?

NCIS: New Orleans season five came to an end last night (Tuesday, May 15) in the US. The series is still airing in the UK and will return to Fox UK on Friday, June, 21 at 9pm. Read on to find out if NCIS: New Orleans has been renewed for a sixth season.

Will there be another series of NCIS: New Orleans?

Yes, there will be another series of NCIS: New Orleans.

CBS announced the news back in April alongside another NCIS spin-off, NCIS: Los Angeles.

The news was announced on CBS’s Twitter account with a tweet which read: “Thrilled to share that #NCISLA and #NCISNOLA have been renewed for the 2019-2020 season!”

CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl in a statement said: “Both shows have been key pillars to the CBS schedule for several years.

“They offer heroic stories, big stars and have attracted a passionate, loyal fan base. We’re excited to have Chris [O’Donnell], LL [Cool J], Scott [Bakula] and these terrific casts back to bring more terrific NCIS stories to viewers in the US and around the world.”

According to TV Series Finale, the ratings for the show has remained steady, with the spin-off achieving 7.3 million viewers each week.

Unfortunately, NCIS New Orleans season six does not yet have an official release date.

However, CBS has confirmed it will air in the 2019-2020 release schedule.

The previous five seasons have arrived in September in the US, so season six is likely to follow suit.

Each season of NCIS: New Orleans has had 24 episodes in total, so season six is likely to have the same.

Sadly, the UK is slightly behind the US in terms of each episode’s release, with season five still airing on Fox UK.

This mean, as usual, season six is likely to arrive slightly later in the UK.

Who will star in NCIS: New Orleans?

Judging by the official statement, all of the main cast of NCIS: New Orleans will return for season six.

This means Scott Bakula will be back as Supervisory Special Agent Dwayne Pride as head of NCIS.

Rob Kekovich who plays Forensic Scientist Sebastian Lund has confirmed he will return.

In a tweet, he wrote: “SEASON SIX, BABY. At least 24 more fictional people are guaranteed to die next year!”

Other returning cast members include Lucas Black as Christoper, CCH Pounder as Loretta, Vanessa Ferlito as Tamy, Daryl Mitchell as Patton and Necar Zadegan as Hannah.

What will happen in NCIS: New Orleans season 6?

Scott Bakula told TV Insider that the new series will focus on Pride’s relationships with his mother (played by Joanna Cassidy).

He said: “She’s kind of the missing link for Pride in terms of his heart and his heartbreak, and we’re going to use her in a very unusual way.

“But hopefully there’ll be more after this season with her and again, the road to finding his mother really opened up when he lost his dad.

“All these things kind of snowball and affect each other. I think it’s been good storytelling, and I think the audience is going to be really surprised and delighted by her, for sure.”

NCIS: New Orleans season 6 is currently in production.
