Naga Munchetty promises ‘not to moan’ about Carol Kirkwood’s exciting update

Naga Munchetty jokes with Carol Kirkwood ahead of weather report

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty assured her co-star Carol Kirkwood she “wouldn’t moan” at her during Thursday’s instalment of the news programme.

Naga began: “You need to know what is going on with the weather. Carol, good morning to you.

“I am not going to moan at you today because it is getting better after those four weeks of what seemed like interminable rain.”

Carol replied: “That is absolutely right Naga, I am not going to say anything about that either.

“Good morning everybody, Naga is right because today is going to be drier for most of us and it is not a cold start to the day either it has to be said.”

Carol was pleased to tell viewers how the weather on Thursday was going to be “mostly dry” with some clouds and a “few scattered showers”.

She warned Naga and Charlie it was going to feel “humid in southern areas on Friday”.

Naga replied: “OK, we stay warned, but thanks very much, Carol.”

The pleasing weather report comes following weeks of rain and dark skies which engulfed the country.

While July was a washout for Britons, southern Europe was hit with temperatures of 45C+ which prompted people to cancel holidays.

Wildfires broke out in Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Portugal due to the scorching heatwave.

A Met Office spokesperson has shared why the weather throughout July in England was so bleak.

“A southern shift of the jet stream – which is a core of winds high up above the Earth’s surface – has pushed high pressure southwards across Europe, whereas I am sure you are aware, they are seeing some very warm temperature at the moment,” they told Metro.co.uk.

“However, this has resulted in low-pressure systems being directed towards the UK, bringing more unsettled and cooler weather that we are currently experiencing here in the UK.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 6am.
