Mindhunter season 2 probably won't be arriving this year

Netflix’s original series Mindhunter is currently shooting its second season, which means it’ll most likely arrive next year rather than before the end of 2018.

Shot through the unique lens of Zodiac‘s David Fincher, the show explores the origins of criminal profiling in the FBI during the late ’70s. This leads to scenes of disturbing intensity and skin-crawling revelations about the human psyche.

As divisive as a show like this could be, the streaming giant commissioned a second season as quickly as you can say ‘Quantico’.

Now, in conversation with Vulture, the cast divulged one piece of information that fans of Mindhunter probably won’t be too pleased about.

“I don’t think that season two will be on until sometime in 2019. We’re actually in the process of shooting it right now, but we’re still in episode one,” said Holt McCallany, who portrays Bill Tench.

Given that the show ended in such an emotionally-charged manner, fans are keen to see the murky world of serial killer investigations return sooner rather than later.

Jonathan Groff, who plays Holden Ford, has previously teased: “I have seen scripts, but I can’t say anything about them. I am excited to go back.

“I can’t say anything about it and I don’t want [David Fincher] to get mad and I don’t want to spoil it.”

Mindhunter season one is streaming now on Netflix.
