Michael Owen hits out at Love Island viewers for branding Gemma ‘rude and too young’

Michael Owen has slammed Love Island viewers who have called his daughter Gemma "rude and too young".

The 19 year old dressage rider and daughter of the famous footballer has caused quite the stir since entering the villa this week, being branded "rude" by some viewersas she made a comment on Lucas Bish’s name .

Some have also suggested she’s "too young" to be in the villa after she paired off with Italian Davide Sanclimenti, who’s eight years her senior.

But now former footballer Michael has hit back at the criticism aimed at his daughter.

In the same interview,he also expressed his frustrationat seeing his daughter sharing a bed and kissing on the show, saying: "It’s not something any father wants to watch, is it?"

Recalling a conversation with his wife Louise about the show, he continued: "I said to Louise, 'Do they really have to sleep together, like in the same bed?'. She said, 'Yes'. I said, 'I did not bank on this'."

Despite his annoyance over the bed-sharing situation, Michael confessed that he's quite lucky as Gemma didn't make "physical contact" with Davide in bed as she "had her back to the guy".

"If there is physical contact I think I’ll be throwing something at the screen. I don’t want to see kissing. Do not make me see kissing!" he added.
