Fans of Little Britain are getting very excited by reports that Matt Lucas and David Williams had ended their bitter feud and are braced to make new material together.
Comedy star Matt, 44, and 47-year-old David won millions of fans at the turn of the century as their comedy sketch show Little Britain aired on the BBC.
And now fans have been encouraged by news that the boys are working together again for a new comedy skit for Comic Relief in March.
“It’s all very quiet, and very recent, but Matt and David have started speaking again,” a source told the Daily Mail.
“They’ve made up, which is amazing and what’s even better is that they are in serious discussions to work together next year,” the source continued.
“Both realise they missed one another a lot and realise how much joy they can bring themselves and the general public by making a comeback,” they added.
The source also claims a ‘toned down’ version of Come Fly With Me is a more likely collaboration rather than a Little Britain revival as the latter show is deemed politically incorrect by modern day standards.
Fans of the pair were encouraged by the news, with one writing on Twitter: “I hope this is true. David Walliams & Matt Lucas were wonderful together and “Come Fly With Me” was absolute genius.”
However, Matt himself appears to have hit back at the reports of a reunion to hint he has no intention of making up with David.
“I can assure you I don’t give interviews to the Daily Mail so you can ignore that Baz Bamigboye story today for a start,” he wrote on Twitter as speculation mounted online.
It is possible the bitter rift between the two comedians is thus not repaired at all.
Matt referenced the feud in his 2016 memoir Little Me: The A-Z of Matt Lucas in which he made bitter remarks about David – whose fame has continued without him.
“Walliams has now sold so many children’s books he can probably buy his own private jet, all decked out in pink, with a river inside it for him to swim up,” he wrote – with many seeing the bitchy comment as a reference to David’s highly publicised charity swims across the Channel and Thames.
It is believed the pair initially fell out over Malteasers in 2005 during the Little Britain live tour.
Reports have claimed the boys demanded separate dressing rooms but were forced to work closely together ahead of shows due to technical needs.
Arguments are said to have taken place over David’s alleged demands for jumbo packs of Malteasers to be made available at all their performance venues – while Matt preferred other confectionary.
