Marvel’s phase four villain ‘leaks’ and we could see them in Captain Marvel 2

Warning: Spoilers for Avengers: Endgame ahead.

The Avengers have a new villain to fear during Marvel’s phase four, according to a new leak.

Following the release of Avengers: Endgame, fans of the franchise have been left wondering what, or who would make the likes of The Hulk and Captain Marvel quiver in their boots in place of Thanos.

In a post on Reddit, a user named ‘TheMarvelScoopMaster’ has revealed numerous details regarding the second Captain Marvel film.

The sequel will reportedly take place between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, placing the film’s setting between the 90s and early 2020s – thanks to the five-year jump after Thanos’s snap.

The leak reads: ‘The film will involve the Kree once again and the Skrulls, and focus on their conflict. Carol [Captain Marvel] learns of a “super weapon” and goes on a search for it, only to realise it’s Korvac.

‘She sympathises with him; her and Korvac bond over being guinea pigs for the Kree basically. So when he betrays her and turns heel she’s left devastated.’

Michael Korvac, often called The Enemy or simply Korvac, was first introduced in the comic books in 1975 in Giant-Size Defenders #3.

He is a dimension-hopping villain in the comic books who is imbued with God-like powers. After learning to use the Power Cosmic, Korvac heads to Earth with the intention of reshaping it into a utopia.

The leak claims that Korvac will not be too strong in Captain Marvel 2, but will grow more powerful and return as a reoccurring threat in future Avengers films.

Say hello to Thanos 2?

There is also an apparent ground level threat from classic Spider-Man foe Norman Osborn, according to the Redditer.

The leak continues: ‘The ground level threat will be Norman Osborn. Norman’s been done before obviously, so Marvel is working very hard to make Norman a threat, and while it’s likely we’ll see his Goblin alter-ego, it’s important to note that we’ll be seeing Norman using political and economical power to exude control over people.

‘His arc will pull heavily from Dark Reign; and potentially his run with the Thunderbolts.’

This comes as Scarlett Johansson was spotted back on set with her red hair filming for a new solo Marvel movie.

Scarlett will be donning her superhero suit once again for a prequel Black Widow movie, set before the very first Avengers film.

Marvel president Kevin Feige is expected to unveil the studio’s upcoming slate of films at San Diego Comic-Con, which take place 18 to 21 July.
