Marvel's Daredevil season 3 confirms the arrival of iconic comic character Bullseye in new teaser trailer

Marvel has definitively confirmed that the next season of Daredevil will feature the famous comic book villain Bullseye.

The Netflix superhero drama debuted a new trailer for the upcoming third season at New York Comic Con on Saturday (October 6) which confirmed the arrival of fan-favourite Bullseye following a number of previous teases about the character’s arrival.

The new clip introduces us to Agent Poindexter (Wilson Bethel), an FBI agent and a master marksman who soon emerges as the major villain of season three.

“If I were wearing a mask you’d be calling me a hero,” Bethel’s character seethes at one point, and he’s soon falling into the orbit of villain Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), aka Kingpin, and donning a hat with the Bullseye target on it.

The Netflix version of the character appears to be based on one of Bullseye’s (many) origin stories in the comic books, which sees a burglar named Benjamin Poindexter join forces with the Kingpin.

This time around, the character won’t start as Bullseye, with Jeph Loeb noting (via ScreenRant) that the Kingpin will corrupt the FBI agent and manipulate him into helping him in his vendetta against Daredevil and framing the vigilante for a series of violent attacks.

The new season of Daredevil has been confirmed to be a stand-alone, with no crossovers with characters from other Marvel Netflix shows.

“I wanted it to be standalone, I did not do crossovers this season,” showrunner Erik Oleson said.

“I wanted to really get back to these core characters, and use the real estate to focus on who they are and really flesh them out before I introduced external and other kind of elements of the MCU, at least all the Netflix Marvel stuff.”

Season three will see the return of Matt Murdock / Daredevil’s allies Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Franklin ‘Foggy’ Nelson (Elden Henson), with Wolf Hall actress Joanne Whalley joining the cast as mysterious nun Maggie.

We’ll also be welcoming The Fosters‘ Jay Ali to the cast as Rahul ‘Ray’ Nadeem, an “honest but ambitious” FBI agent.

One character we won’t be seeing back this season is Claire Temple, with actress Rosario Dawson saying that she has said “at least for now a kind of goodbye for Claire” after her appearance in Luke Cage‘s second season.

Marvel’s Daredevil debuts its third season exclusively on Netflix on October 19.
