While the lip-locking moment between the two ladies was less public than that time Madge tongued Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, she seemed to enjoy her latest female snog nonetheless.
Taking to Instagram late on Monday, 35-year-old rap beauty Nicki paid tribute to music legend Madonna – who turned 60 on 16 August.
“I wanna say happy belated B Day to the queen – the queen of all queens! Miss, Madonna,” Nicki said as the undisputed Queen of Pop hovered behind her saying “Fierce”.
“I love you so much, M,” Nicki gushed – adding: “Kisses and hugs!”
Nicki then instructed her loyal followers to: “Show her love y'all” – just as Madge went in for a cheeky kiss from the Starships singer.
As Nicki’s eyes widened, Madonna (dressed in a billowing cloak-like dress) pulled her in close, like a Vampire claiming its prey.
As the ladies passionately made out, Minaj proved she is an expert at recording her own social media content as her hand holding her phone barely moved.
The younger star then erupted into jubilant laughter as Madge released her.
The passionate moment echoed the headline grabbing moment where Madonna and Britney Spears kissed at the 2003 MTV VMAs.
Rebel Heart singer Madonna also kissed Christina Aguelera during the same performance of her underrated satirical pop tune, Hollywood – however Britney’s involvement has always overshadowed Christina’s.
The moment raised eyebrows from some viewers – not least Justin Timberlake who had broken up with the star the year before.
Madonna sparked controversy at the 2018 VMAs, however, during her speech in tribute to the late Aretha Franklin.
Fans and critics were outraged as Madonna talked “about herself” during the speech and made only fleeting references to the Soul legend – who died last week aged 76.
