Lucifer season 4 premiere date on Netflix revealed

Tom Ellis’ devil will rise exactly 666 hours from now.

Season 4 of Lucifer will premiere May 8, Netflix revealed Tuesday via a steamy video featuring Ellis emerging from a swimming pool. (Watch the video above.)

Last summer, Fox canceled Lucifer after its third season, which cliffhung on Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) finally realizing that her partner is indeed the Lucifer after seeing his devil face for the first time. Thankfully, the streaming service swooped in and resurrected the Warner Bros.-produced series for a 10-episode fourth season, meaning fans won’t be left dangling forever after that long-awaited scene.

When season 4 begins, Lucifer is still reeling from Chloe’s discovery, but he’ll face a new challenge in the form of Eve (Inbar Lavi) — you know, of the Book of Genesis. With the original sinner back in his life, Lucifer will have to figure out if she wants revenge for tempting her out of the Garden of Eden or something else. Given all this, Ellis is convinced that this is the show’s best season yet.

“I’ll say this is without a doubt our strongest season that we’ve done, for many reasons,” Ellis told EW when we visited the set in November. “A lot of it has to do with where we left our story and how we pick it up, and what we deal with this season is stuff we’ve never really dealt with before because there was always this conceit that no one believes Lucifer is the devil. But now that is common knowledge amongst some of our major characters.”

The complete fourth season of Lucifier will be available May 8 on Netflix.
