It has been almost exactly a year since the thrilling season finale of Lucifer’s fourth instalment aired on May 8, 2019.

Since then, the series has experienced a bumpy path, as various news stories have thrown the future of the show into uncertainty.

With production of season five already stalled amid the coronavirus outbreak, reports of Tom Ellis dissolving contract negotiations with Warner Bros Television seem to have taken a sixth season off the cards.

Meanwhile, fans are still recovering from Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) fulfilling the prophecy and reclaiming his throne in Hell to keep Dromos (Graham McTavish) and his demons at bay.

Plus, ‘Deckerstar’ fans should be in for a treat when season five finally arrives, as the latest events seem to confirm their romantic tension has finally blossomed.

Looking back, fans will remember Dromos, utilising the body of Father Kinley, kidnapping baby Charlie in order to create a new King of Hell.

Charlie is the half-angel, half-human offspring of Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) and psychiatrist Linda Martin (Rachael Harris).

His kidnapping almost led to disastrous consequences for Lucifer, Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and life on Earth as a whole.

However, despite the high stakes, one fan couldn’t help but notice a strange error with Dromos’ demonic ritual to transform Charlie into the new King of the underworld.

They took to Reddit to point out a glaring error with the vial Dromos attempts to use to transform Charlie into a worthy successor of Hell’s throne.

Redditor Xyphilis posted: “They grab the vial, and mix it into his drink to prepare the ritual. But isn’t that unnecessary? The show treats it as, once the vial’s contained liquid is ingested, that’s it, they won. But the vile itself contains a sedative designed for a celestial.”

The fan continued to question why Dromos felt it was necessary to sedate a baby – one who isn’t a complete celestial – to perform the ritual.

They continued: “They wouldn’t need to sedate a baby, they could easily handle the child as they have, without using the vial.”

This mistake arrived at a highly pivotal moment for the series, and caused a major dispute once the error was presented to fellow viewers.

Other ‘Lucifans’ quickly took to the comments to propose explanations, though many were convinced this error stands out as a major oversight in the season finale.

One fan suggested: “I thought the vial contains holy water or something. Which might make it necessary for the ritual.”

While another added: “I would argue because Charlie is half-human what’s in the vial would need to be diluted/not as strong because that stuff was created for a pureblooded angel Lucifer.”

However, they eventually conceded: “But I don’t think the demons would think in those terms.. so I have no other explanation.”

Whether or not these oversights will be cleared up in the next premiere is yet to be seen, as there is not yet a clear release date for Netflix’s fifth season of the popular fantasy thriller.

Lucifer seasons 1-3 are available on Amazon Prime. Lucifer season 4 is available on Netflix.
