Love Island bosses warned to do background checks after controversial islanders

Former Gogglebox star Joe Baggs has issued a warning to Love Island bosses to "do background checks properly" following several explosive revelations surrounding several contestants this series.

The influencer has always been a big fan of the ITV2 reality dating show and regularly interviews former Islanders on his podcast, Not My Bagg, which he presents with his brother George.

It's fair to say this series has been one of the most explosive to date after numerous ex-girlfriends have spoken out against fellow Islanders on the show.

Many contestants have also faced backlash over allegations of homophobia before they found fame on the show.

Most recently, Casa Amor star Kodie Murphy caused quite the stir outside of the villa after he told his now-ex girlfriend that he was away on a "work trip" before he joined the show.

The 20-year-old star was also accused of homophobic bullying by a former schoolmate during his week on the ITV dating show.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, the podcast host has shared his thoughts on the allegations before he issued a stern warning to villa bosses.

He told us: "So I don’t like speculating without hardcore proof but I’ve seen a lot online about that guy Kodie basically being homophobic.

"A guy came out and said that he was really homophobic to him at school but obviously he’s only 20 and then there was other stuff that he had a girlfriend back at home and he told her he was on a work trip.

"So the only think I would say about this series is that I hope they’re [ITV bosses] doing their background checks properly because it seems like there’s so much stuff coming out that hasn’t come out in previous years."

But Kodie isn't the only star to land themselves in hot water this year after George Fensom found himself hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The business development executive, 24, came under fire for previous homophobic tweets and accusations of exhibiting controlling behaviour over his ex-girlfriend.

The reality star – who was the first contestant to be booted from the ITV show – also faced backlash over a series of historic homophobic tweets.

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
