Love Island bosses leap to contestants' defence as they slam trolls for vile messages after Chloe received death threats

LOVE Island bosses have slammed vile trolls for sending contestant Chloe Burrows hundreds of death threats.

Chloe, 25, made a dramatic late entrance into the villa on Tuesday night, choosing to couple up with Aaron Francis.

This caused his partner Shannon Singh to be dumped from the show.

As a result, cruel viewers have since inundated Chloe's horrified family with death threats and disturbing messages, leaving them begging people to stop.

Love Island bosses have now stepped in warned trolls that they will be reported for making nasty and hurtful comments about the Islanders.

In a statement posted on Instagram, show bosses said: "We want Love Island to be a positive experience for all of our cast and their friends and family members.

"Last night's episode created strong reactions but some viewers' posts were wholly unacceptable.

"We take these matters extremely seriously and will support cast members and their families in reporting such posts."

The message finished: "We would once again urge all of our viewers to think before posting, and remember that our Islanders are people with feelings."

Chloe's devastated family spoke out on Thursday in desperation, having been flooded with horrible messages on social media.

The marketing executive's relatives noted the tragic deaths of three former Love Island stars.

Sophie Gradon was found dead aged 32 in June 2018.

Mike Thalassitis, who appeared on Love Island in 2017, took his own life in March 2019 aged 26.

The show’s host Caroline Flack also took her life aged 40 in February 2020.

In an emotional statement the family shared: "Morning everyone, Chloe's family & friends here.

"We hate to introduce ourselves under such vile circumstances but we've had enough after just 3 episodes.

"We all have thick skin but the amount of trolling Chloe has been receiving is absolutely disgusting. This morning we woke up to yet another DM (see next story) encouraging Chloe to kill herself – there have been HUNDREDS.

You’re Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.

It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let's all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You're Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

"Have the deaths of Sophie, Mike, and Caroline taught us nothing?

The statement continued: "Not only that, but people are flooding her inbox threatening to kill themselves. People… this is a GAME show, there is a cash prize!

"We understand the frustration surrounding @shannonsinghh's eviction we feel it too! She didn't deserve to leave so early but Chloe does not deserve to DIE because Shannon had to leave the villa! She will have had no idea of the repercussions of her decisions prior to making it.

"We are not naive. We know that this post won't put an end to trolling. All the advice we get is to 'ignore it' and 'block the trolls' sometimes it's not that easy. Our hope is that this just reminds some of you #BeKind" x."

Love Island fans were reeling when show favourite Shannon was booted off as a result of Chloe choosing to couple up with Aaron.

But although Shannon and Aaron had been coupled up, they had no chemistry – and Shannon said it was right that she was the Islander to leave.

She said after leaving the villa: "I am a bit gutted.

"But, out of all the girls, I think it is fair it’s me because I didn’t have any emotional attachments to the guys but all the girls had little things going on."
