Lorraine tells Corrie’s Shayne Ward he ‘piled on a few pounds’ in weight jibe

Shayne Ward was on Lorraine Kelly today to promote his upcoming stage tour Band of Gold, which will see the cast bring the 1995 drama to the stage.

The television series told the tale of a young mother who turns to prostitution to pay the bills and support her children after she throws her abusive husband out of the house.

As well as promoting his upcoming acting gig, Shayne, 35, also discussed his mega weight-loss since leaving Coronation Street, where he starred as Aidan Connor.

Shayne has lost three stone since leaving the programme.

Speaking about his weight-loss, Lorraine brutally said: "You piled on a few pounds."

Shayne responded: "That's all from dunking biscuits on Corrie."

ITV then flashed on the screen before-and-after shots of a shirtless Shayne.

A cheeky Lorraine then added: "I mean you still look good to me there in that towel. I mean for goodness' sake."

Shayne then said: "I've lost a little over three stone."

He revealed his partner Sophie Austin had also lost just over three stone.

Shayne divulged: ""Sophie is doing it with me. She cooks fresh food every single day, I've lost over three and a half, she's lost three stone."

Shayne said his weight-loss is all down to "common sense" with food choices.

"A lot of it is common sense and food. It's very easy to fall into the trap."
