Loose Women's Brenda Edwards was left utterly horrified by Gregg Wallace’s mockumentary video where the TV chef appeared to eat human flesh.

On Monday night (July 24), the 58-year-old MasterChef judge starred in a Channel 4 show called British Miracle Meat which saw the cook chowing down on laboratory-grown meats.

The show saw Gregg – and fellow chef Michel Roux Jr, 63 – visiting a factor that manufactured “engineered human meat” where they met with financially challenged families who were selling their flesh as donors to a fictional company called Good Harvest.

The human flesh was then grown in labs to be used in the creation of steaks, burgers and sausages – but fortunately the entire process was a mockumentary and intended to be regarded as satire.

But it’s fair to say viewers were left completely disgusted by the programme, including the ITV presenter.

On Tuesday (July 25), the mum-of-two revealed she woke up in the middle of the night suffering from a nightmare after watching the clip.

She confessed: "I came home after the show last night and it usually takes me a little time to unwind – I was so wound up after watching this 27-minute mockumentary.

"Which I didn't realise [was fake] because it didn't at any point in time from when I started watching it say, 'This is a mockumentary' or 'This is not real'."

Brenda went on to point out how Channel 4 failed to explain that the show was fake which left her fearing for the future.

The presenter went on: "And in a world where everything is fake news and you don't know what to believe nowadays, it really concerned me and I was up all night just thinking somebody might soon come and eat me'."

It was at this point that the studio erupted into laughter as Janet Street-Porter insisted: "You should have phoned me, I could have told you it wasn't real" before Brenda added: "I'm a tasty morsel!"

It comes after Gregg hinted that his fans should lighten up after the backlash his show received.

Sharing a promotional poster for the mockumentary, which saw the culinary expert ginning in front of a giant slab of meat, Gregg wrote: "Thank you for watching. I really enjoyed my first ever acting job!"
