Lana Condor's Newest Role Is The Opposite Of Lara Jean, And We Couldn't Be More Excited

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star Lana Condor is trading in her scrunchie and bottle of Yakult for a deadly katana and a motorcycle on Syfy’s upcoming series, Deadly Class. Condor is doing away with her sweet, timid persona in favor of a little spunk to suit her role as assassin Saya Kuroki.

Based on Rick Remender, Wes Craig, and Lee Loughridge’s popular comic book series of the same name, Deadly Class lets us in on the life of Marcus Lopez (Benjamin Wadsworth), a homeless teenager who spent his childhood subjected to abuse. Through some stroke of luck, he finds himself enrolled in a private institution called King’s Dominion. Much to his surprise, he finds out it’s not your run-of-the-mill boarding school. Seemingly based on Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters (from the X-Men franchise), King’s Dominion’s mission is to train students to become elite assassins or, as Master Lin (Benedict Wong) calls them, “creative problem solvers.”

In a teaser for the show released at New York Comic-Con, it’s clear it will be rife with action, teenage angst, and blood.

A whole lot of blood.

“Do you have any idea where you are?” Saya questions Marcus in the trailer.

“Did I just join a cult?” Marcus asks.

Obviously, Marcus is in for the surprise of his life.

We already got a peek at Condor playing a spunkier character on X-Men: Apocalypse when she portrayed energy blast-wielding mutant Jubilee Lee. Unfortunately, she was limited to a few seconds of screen time (although it’s highly speculated she will make an appearance on Dark Phoenix).

We’re looking forward to watching her kick some serious ass this time around.

Deadly Class premieres on Wednesday, January 16 on Syfy.
