Kristin Cavallari Opens Up About How She Was Portrayed on 'Laguna Beach' and More

When you’re on a reality show you never know how it will actually come out. Kristin Cavallari talked about being surprised about her portrayal on Laguna Beach. Find out why and how she moved forward from the experience.

Kristin Cavallari said the show “escalated” her rivalry with Lauren Conrad

Laguna Beach followed high school students in the beach area. There was a strong focus on Lauren Conrad being friends with Stephen Colletti and having a crush on him. However, that was a problem since he had a girlfriend, Kristin Cavallari.

Conrad and Cavallari were certainly not friends because of this. But Cavallari later revealed that the drama might not have been the same if it wasn’t for the show.

“I think because of the show, the rivalry between Lauren and I sort of escalated,” Cavallari told BuzzFeed. “We were never friends. We just weren’t. I didn’t hate her before MTV came and the way it sort of turned into. And that’s because I felt like she was trying to steal my boyfriend.”

She did clarify that some of the drama was real. “So the love triangle was a real thing. However, it was real before MTV came. I think they sort of kept it going by having my boyfriend at the time going and hanging out with Lauren, which was hard! I was 17 and that was hard for me.”

She said no one told her she would be a villain on Laguna Beach

The reality star talked about pursuing to be on the show very hard even though she “wasn’t at school” when MTV visited it. She got an audition, but she wasn’t ready for how things turned out.

“No one ever told me like, ‘Hey! By the way, you’re the villain—so just want to prepare yourself,’” she said on Very Cavallari. “I was so young, I mean, I was 17, 18. So, to all of a sudden have people saying what a b*tch I was, that was really hard actually.”

She still said that she made “a great villain” on the show. The first time around Cavallari was surprised by her portrayal, but it seems like she accepted it later.

Cavallari said she saw it as being part of the job for The Hills

This starburst necklace is now available in a shorter chain . And trust me, I know u guys are frustrated that we don’t have anything in stock right now. You can’t be more frustrated than me!!! I wish jewelry was made overnight but unfortunately it’s not and it takes a few weeks. We have small shipments coming in starting TOMORROW and will be FULLY restocked by the end of Sept (but a lot of styles before then). I’m so sorry- and yes, I knew I had a show coming out that would increase volume- but I just didn’t estimate the right amount. IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN! Thanks for hanging in there with us ❤️ @uncommonjames

The reality star joined The Hills after Conrad left. Her first appearance was teased with her saying “the b*tch is back.” Cavallari talked about that line and returning to reality TV.

“MTV actually asked me if I was OK with them saying ‘the b*tch is back,’” she told BuzzFeed. “And I was like, “Yeah, let’s do it. I’m coming back, let’s make it big.” I looked at it as a job and I was having fun so I was game for it.”

It’s obvious that Cavallari has gotten over the past. She is now on Very Cavallari and talked about wanting to be on the revival of The Hills.
