Kim Kardashian reveals husband Kanye West will discuss 'exciting things' with President Trump

The reality star has spoken out about her husband's decision to meet with the controversial US president.

Kim insisted that she is "proud" of her husband – adding that Kanye has been planning the meeting for some time.

Speaking to Extra at the Tiffany & Co. launch of the 2018 Tiffany Blue Book collection in New York City yesterday, Kim said: "I try to [give Kanye advice].

"I will try to help him communicate.

"I always say he isn't the best communicator, but he has the best heart. I know what he wants to accomplish… and I can't wait to see that happen."

Refusing to say exactly what Kanye is meeting with Trump to discuss, the mother-of-three teased: "[It's about the] city of Chicago and some exciting things that I feel like they have been planning, and I really hope the president listens."

Kanye grew up in Chicago and the city is so close to his heart that he and Kim named their newborn daughter after it earlier this year.

The rapper's continued relationship with Trump has sparked backlash over the years  – with Kanye regularly going on "pro-Trump" rants.

He has also been pictured wearing a Make America Great Again baseball cap – a mark of his support for the president.

The star previously met with Trump at Trump Tower in New York in December 2016, shortly after the businessman won the presidential election.

At the time, Kanye tweeted that he he met with the president to discuss "multicultural issues" including bullying, education, and violence in his hometown.

Kim has also met with the politician – convincing him to pardon 63-year-old convict Alice Marie Johnson.

Johnson had received a life sentence in 1996 for a non-violent, first-time drug offence.

She served 22 years in prison for her role of answering phones for a cocaine trafficking organisation

Earlier this year, Kim and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner sought to persuade the president to grant Johnson clemency.

In May, Kim travelled to the Oval Office to discuss the case with Trump directly.

Johnson was released on 6 June.
