Kelly Dodd From 'RHOC' Breaks Silence After Positive Beverage Cut Affiliation

Kelly Dodd from The Real Housewives of Orange County is facing severe backlash over her comments about COVID. Over the weekend, the Bravo star seemingly mocked COVID-19 by cheering maskless people yelling “super spreader” inside a restaurant. The fallout from her controversial opinions is now taking effect as Positive Beverage has dropped her. After cutting ties with the reality TV personality, Dodd is reacting to the news.

Why did Positive Beverage fire Kelly Dodd?

After multiple controversies originated by Dodd’s views on politics and COVID-19, Positive Beverage confirmed they were no longer affiliated with Dodd. The RHOC star had been promoting the drink on the Bravo reality series and routinely wore a hat with the brand’s logo.

“We welcome all people — however they are and whatever they are passionate about — to Positive Beverage,” CEO Shannon Argyros said in a statement posted on Instagram. “There must always be an underlying layer of respect. Unfortunately, we feel Kelly’s stance is no longer congruent with our core values.”

Positive Beverage wanted to distance themselves from Dodd’s views and it was only fitting to end their working relationship.

Head of Brand, Zack Muchnick also released a statement adding, “Our core values of wellness, community, diversity, and inclusion should be reflected by our brand and anyone associated with it. It has become clear over the past few months that Kelly’s controversial views and opinions have distracted from our primary objectives, so effective today, we are no longer affiliated with Kelly Dodd-Leventhal.”

How did Kelly Dodd react to the news?

Following Positive Beverage’s shocking announcement, it wasn’t long before Dodd took to her social media to react to the news. The reality TV personality seemed unfazed by the axing and promised fans that she was working on her “real passion” that would soon be launching.

“I’m glad I could help put Positive Beverage on the map and wish them well,” Dodd said. “I’m also really excited about my next venture in the beauty industry, which is my real passion. Stay tuned!”

Dodd didn’t give her followers a timeframe as to when they could expect this new venture. The controversial star also didn’t reveal what the product she would be launching was but many guessed it had to do with makeup. For now, her fans would have to wait and see what Dodd’s next move is.

Kelly Dodd almost cried at the ‘RHOC’ reunion

Andy Cohen, an executive producer on RHOC and reunion host, tried to hold Dodd accountable for her words on social media. The latter believed that he was a little hard on her but understood that it needed to happen.

“He almost had me in tears but I deserved it,” she told Hollywood Life in an interview. “There was a lot of people that were upset with me and it affected people in different ways. I was frustrated. I acted out. I’m a very social person and I believe in my civil liberties and I feel that way and I didn’t know, at the time.”

Dodd also reiterated that her “thinning the herd” comment was uncalled for and said she said it out of ignorance on the topic.

“In January, when we first started filming, I didn’t know 300,000 people in America were going to die,” she explained. “So was I a little stupid in my comments? Of course, I was. Do I feel bad about it? Yeah. I regret it. [And] I understand that Andy had to drill me that way.”

As of now, Bravo has not committed to revealing if any current RHOC cast members would be returning for season 16 of the show.
