Kelly discovers the truth about Rick in Corrie as familiar face returns?

It was an emotional day for Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) in tonight’s Coronation Street, starting with having to testify at Toyah (Georgia Taylor)’s trial.

A clearly emotional Kelly found the whole experience traumatic and stressful, and she was glad to get back home and start thinking about her engagement party.

The relationship between Kelly and Gary (Mikey North) is becoming a lovely thing, which is all the more poignant because we know that Millie Gibson will shortly be leaving the show. In this episode he offered to chip in to help pay for her wedding, and Kelly was overwhelmed by his kindness.

Gary’s kindness towards Kelly is, of course, always at least in part motivated by the guilt he feels over being the cause of Kelly’s father’s death, but there is also a lot of genuine affection between them.

When Kelly overheard Maria (Samia Longchambon) make a comment that Kelly would soon get bored of Aadi (Adam Hussain) and dump him, Gary did his best to calm things down. In a touching scene he sat and talked to Kelly about the party she was planning and about the wedding.

She said that if they did the traditional thing of having the groom’s family and friends at one side of the ceremony and the bride’s at the other, her side would be very empty.

Gary reassured her that anyone would be proud to be at her wedding. But when Kelly was alone, she took her phone out and looked at one name in particular – Sharon.

Sharon is one of Rick’s former associates and is one of the few people who knows that Gary Windass killed Rick Neelan.

It looks like Kelly is about to invite her to the engagement party – and this could be what sparks off a whole dramatic chain of events as we head into next week’s spectacular climax to Gary and Kelly’s story.
