Waterloo Road star Katie Griffiths has revealed she's expecting her first child with husband Matthew Wardle.
The actress, best known for playing Chlo Grainger in the hit BBC One series, announced the happy news on Instagram on Wednesday, 20 December.
She shared a sweet photograph of her pet dog Pippa sitting next to a book titled 'How to Still Get Treats When The Humans are Having a Baby' along with a snap of her blossoming baby bump.
The mum-to-be penned: "Baby Wardle coming May 2024," alongside a red heart emoji, as her followers flocked to congratulate her and wish her well.
Fellow Waterloo Road star Angela Griffin said: "This absolutely amazing, beautifully gorgeous news! Best Christmas pressie ever," and Sonia Ibrahim wrote: "Amazing news massive congratulations beautiful," alongside two heart emojis.
Another follower said: "OMGGG a huge congrats. So happy for you both," and somebody else penned: "Congratulations Katie! The bump really suits you, you look gorgeous! Sending a big squeeze! xx".
"Congratulations!! Such exciting news," another follower penned alongside two white heart emojis.
The news comes just five months after Katie married her longterm partner Matthew in a stunning ceremony at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve in Lympne.
The couple tied the knot on 1 July surrounded by their nearest and dearest, with Katie stunning in a white embroidered gown a and matching headband. Sharing the news on Instagram, she excitedly wrote: "The perfect day. Happy to now confirm I am married to the love of my life," alongside a heart emoji.
Katie later shared more photos from her big day, and emotionally told fans: "It's hard to put into words how I feel about this day but I'll try. On 1st July I married this wonderful human in front of a lot of other beautiful souls. To our lovely family & friends, we just couldn't have done it without you," before going on to thank all of the businesses that helped to create her special wedding.
Katie was just 17 years old when she joined the cast of Waterloo Road in 2006 and she remained on the show until 2009.
She then reprised her role in the 2023 reboot of the BBC One show, however her character Chlo was tragically killed off in the first episode, leaving behind husband Donte Charles (Adam Thomas) and their two young children.
