Kate Silverton reveals IVF 'messed up her body' and hopes Strictly will help her get fit again

The newsreader, 48, had four rounds of of IVF before conceiving daughter Clemency naturally at 41. She had her son, Wilbur, three years later.

And Kate – who married Mike Heron in 2010 – admits motherhood and her busy career has kept her away from the gym.

But she's hoping to tone up her tum on the dancefloor.

She told the Daily Mirror: "We got married at 40 and then we had all the IVF and all the rest of it and, God, everyone that has been through IVF will know how much it messes up your body."

Kate – who's been partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec on the BBC ballroom series – says she's already feeling the benefits of being on the show.

She said: “I have felt my core snap back in. Everyone talks about the two stone weight loss, but if I can get back in my wedding dress then I am happy.”

Kate also revealed that Aljaz is her "dream partner".

She said: "As well as being a brilliant choreographer and having a great track record, Aljaz is fun, cheeky and, crucially, tall. I stand 5ft 10in in bare feet.”

Kate recently admitted that new Strictly hunk Graziano Di Prima has forced her husband to “up his game” after she danced with the Italian in rehearsals for the series launch.

She said: “When I came home on the first day after the group dance — my husband’s a military man — and he went ‘Oh, so who were you dancing with today?’

“And I went, ‘Oh, you know that new one’, as if he didn’t know — because I’ve been going, ‘Oh, look at him, the Italian’.”

“I just saw a little flicker in his eye. He’s upping his game.

“But never mind the ‘Strictly Curse’, this is marriage magic. I’m getting texts from my husband saying, ‘You looked really hot’.”
