The royal family certainly doesn’t shy away from photos. From paparazzi shots to the Kensington Palace official social media accounts, on any given day, photographs and video of the royals are in constant flow on the internet. However, while Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle seem to adore being on camera, even though their constant PDA can make photographers’ lives difficult, other royals prefer not to have their images splattered around the world if they can help it.
Prince William, who is second in line for the throne, and his wife, Duchess Kate Middleton aren’t fans of being constantly photographed. In fact, the pair have their own sneaky trick that helps them evade getting their photographs taken all the time.

Different from his father
Unlike Prince William, Prince Charles enjoys all of the spectacle and limelight that come with being a royal, as long as he’s painted in good light of course. However, according to Vanity Fair, Prince William despises the constant invasion of privacy. One royal correspondent revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge really try to keep their kids out of the spotlight. When we do see Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, their mother, Duchess Kate Middleton is typically behind the lens snapping their photos.
For her part, though she’s not as controlling about her image as her husband is about his, Duchess Kate Middleton has had a horrifying run-in with the paparazzi. It was so bad that the royal family had to intervene in the court system. Therefore, we can totally see why she’s wary of being under the constant gaze of the camera.

A crafty trick
Unfortunately, since Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William are high-ranking members of the royal family, they can’t exactly slip away and hide away forever. One royal correspondent claims, “Kate and William, in particular, are known for purposefully not looking at a fixed point when having their picture taken-making it hard for photographers to get good images of them.”
The favorite royal among photographers
While Markle and Prince Harry are too busy smooching to be bothered by photos, and Middleton and Prince William are doing their best to avoid them, there is one royal that the paparazzi never has any issues with. In fact, this member of the royal family is a favorite among members of the media in general. A royal insider explained, “[Duchess Camilla Parker Bowles] knows all our names, she fosters a sense that we’re all in this together. She always gives you a little gleam in her eye and will find a moment to look at our cameras.”
We wonder if the baby royals will have their own feelings about the press and photos as they continue to get older. We’re sure they’ll come up with their own tricks to avoid being in the spotlight when they don’t want to.
