Kate Garraway tells off MP Owen Paterson for not having phone on silent before bin lorry drowns out tense Good Morning Britain interview

The TV presenter looked furious during the blunder-filled discussion on Brexit earlier today, which also saw a noisy bin lorry distract the politician.

As Owen was answering a question on Brexit via a video link from central London, a text alert went off causing the MP to stumble over his answer.

Then a noisy bin lorry passed him on the dark street where he was standing. He said: "Hang on."

A clearly annoyed Kate in the ITV studio said: "You've got a lot going on haven't you? I think your phone isn't on silent because I can hear it pinging and now you've got the lorries as well."

He sheepishly took out his phone from his pocket to turn it on silent before the host continued questioning him – and the interview turned icy as he refused to give her a straight answer on Theresa May's leadership.

It comes after a dramatic end to yesterday's episode which saw Piers Morgan have a pie thrown in his face by Harry Hill on behalf of "all the dads who wear papooses".

The TV star looked shocked as the comedian threw the dessert at him live on Good Morning Britain, before turning around and doing the same to co-host Susanna Reid.

Harry explained that part of his forthcoming live tour Harry Hill Kidz Show: How To Be Funny…For Kids! – which starts on Sunday – sees him teaching children how to create a custard pie.

He said, "it's a dying art," before adding – as he drew a letter 'P' on his pie with whipped cream – that "what's quite nice is to personalise it if you're going to throw it at anyone in particular".

The comedian then launched his dessert at Piers' face, as he shouted: "This pie is for all the men who wear papooses. For Ross Kemp and Daniel Craig."

Susanna screamed before falling into a fit of giggles and Piers threw his pie in her face just before she returned the favour.

It comes after Piers was mocked by Good Morning Britain crew and guests earlier in the show for his hatred of dads carrying their children in baby slings.

Earlier this week the TV star slammed Daniel Craig for transporting his daughter in a papoose, and on the show this morning he branded the subsequent Twitter storm "papoosegate".

His exasperated co-presenter Susanna Reid asked: "What is your ongoing issue with the papoose?"

Explaining his anger towards baby slings, Piers replied: "I just don't like them!"

The camera then panned to entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold wearing a baby doll in a papoose, as well as backstage crew members.
