Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid forced to style their own hair after snake-phobic stylist flees the Good Morning Britain studio

The presenter admitted she didn't have any extra help to get ready this morning because the show's hairdresser was too scared to step onto the studio floor.

When asked about her "bed hair" by a viewer, Kate replied: "There is an explanation – our hairdresser is TERRIFIED of snakes – so with our @GMB studio crawling with them – we are being left to our own devices ! Not pretty."

Jonathan the snake got up close and personal to Richard Arnold after coiling around his crotch.

While Susanna, 47, had the unfortunate luck of sitting beside brave Richard, who manhandled the slithering snake with ease.

As it got more and more excited in his arms, Susanna couldn't take the pressure and yelped in fear.

She said afterwards: "Oh for goodness sake I'm not scared of snakes but frankly I don't need it that close to me.

"There is something disconcerting about the fact its tongue is continuously out.

"It does love me I don't know what that says about anything. It's hissing at me now!"

Jonathan was deposited safely into a plastic box after his morning in the spotlight.
