Joseph Gilgun plays Vinnie in Sky1's Brassic – but who is he, what else has he been in and is the actor married?

JOSEPH GILGUN plays the lead role in Sky One’s Brasssic, the comedy drama that also stars Michelle Keegan and Ryan Sampson.

And you may recognise the British actor from countless hit TV shows over the years. Here is a rundown of his life and career so far…

Who is Joseph Gilgun?

Joseph Gilgun is an actor, who was born on March 9, 1984 in Chorley, Lancashire, to parents Judith and Andrew.

He broke on to the acting scene quite young, appearing in Coronation Street at the tender age of ten in 1994.

From 2006-2010 he starred in Emmerdale as Eli Dingle, before featuring in the successful TV mini-series This Is England ’86.

The actor also appeared in the 2006 film This Is England and the spin-off series This Is England ’88 and This Is England ’90.

But his breakthrough role came when he took on the part of Rudy Wade in the Channel 4 TV series Misfits.

In 2016 he landed another big part playing vampire Cassidy in AMC’s critically acclaimed drama series, Preacher, available on Amazon.

Beside his acting, the TV star is known for his extensive tattoos, as he has both of his arms covered in inkings and much of his body.

Why might you recognise Joseph Gilgun?

The small screen star has an impressive list of TV credentials to his name but he has also dabbled in film.

Joseph, who attended Rivington Primary School and Southland High School, has featured in films like Lockout, Pride and The Infiltrator.

He famously starred in Shameless and appeared in shows such as Ripper Street, Coming Up and Misfits Strung Out.

The Brit has worked alongside Vin Diesel in the 2015 movie The Last Witch Hunter and Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston in The Infiltrator.

Is Joseph Gilgun married and does he have kids?

The Brassic star is thought to be currently single but he previously dated his This Is England co-star Vicky McClure.

In the past he has said he is unlucky in love, admitting: “I’m not very successful with girls. I’m too busy making a twat of myself. I’m one of them, idiots.”

Speaking about his love life, he said: “I just can’t find a girlfriend and I don’t just snog anyone or sleep with anyone.

“I don’t do that. I wish I could. But fuck man, you’d end up with syphilis.”

Joseph is not known to have any children and generally keeps his private life under wrap.

When is Sky One’s Brassic next on?

The first season of Brassic premiered on August 22, 2019 on Sky One, with episodes airing every Thursday night from 10pm.

However, fans of the show can watch the entire series – made up of six episodes – on Sky on-demand.

Alternatively, NOW TV subscription holders can access the show on the streaming service.
