Jimmy Fallon celebrates Tonight Show anniversary

Jimmy Fallon celebrated five years hosting The Tonight Show with a special episode featuring a slew of celebrity guests.

The 44-year-old Saturday Night Live alum deviated from the typical format of the nightly talk show — previously hosted by Jay Leno until Fallon took over on Feb. 17, 2014 — in an unusual scripted episode Monday night that paid tribute to the structure of late comedian Garry Shandling’s popular HBO sitcom The Larry Sanders Show.

After fumbling his opening monologue, Fallon welcomes his first guest: A disgruntled Ben Stiller, who makes it clear he’s missing a lot of important engagements to celebrate Fallon’s achievement while wearing a panda suit.

Continuing the episode’s everyone-hates-Jimmy theme, Tina Fey gets in several digs at Fallon during her guest appearance, accusing him of “popping pills” and blaming him for Trump’s election between flashing fake smiles for the studio audience.

Australian television personality Robert Irwin (son of the late Steve Irwin) then receives the brunt of Fallon’s frustrations, as the talk show host next launches into a tirade against the 15-year-old animal handler before his segment.

Finally, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro storms off the Tonight Show set after spotting cockroaches during filming.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET / 10:35 p.m. CT on NBC. Watch the best moments from Fallon’s five-year hosting anniversary above.
