James Corden plays with son Max courtside as they watch the LA Lakers

Rather than your usual Sunday night outing, the 40-year-old TV presenter and Max enjoyed courtside tickets, which are notoriously hard to come by and can go for around $110,700 each.

While the result can't have been what James was hoping for, with the Rangers winning 121 – 107, the Late Late Show star and his eldest child looked happy and relaxed as they cheered on their team from the side.

Dressed casually in jeans, trainers and a burgundy sports jacket, TV's favourite funny man held hands with his son as they laughed and pulled silly faces at one another.

James and his wife Julia Carey, 41, are known to be fiercely protective of their children and the actor has spoken out before about how he wants them to have normal lives.

Despite living in LA and rubbing shoulders with a host of famous people, the couple have gone to lengths to make sure they spend as much time with their kids as possible.

James' outing with Max would have come as a welcome break for the TV star as he has been busy recording his latest instalment of the Late Late Show.

His latest star offering for the hit segment Carpool Karaoke is actress and singer Barbara Streisand.
After filming with James, Barbara later admitted it was her "first time singing out loud in a car."

The show has gone from strength to strength under James' helm thanks to his calibre of guests.

In fact James is so confident with his position as host that in 2017 when his wife went into labour with youngest daughter Charlotte, he asked Harry Styles to stand in for him.

It was reported earlier this year that the family could be staying on even longer in LA as Corden had been offered a £15million deal with CBS to carry on presenting the show for another four years.
